Becoming The Best We Can Be

Recommended Books

This book uses direct, but child friendly language and

addresses the mixed emotions felt by that child during the process. It offers support and the opportunity to express themselves through writing and drawing.

Author: Clare Shaw.

Badger is so old that he knows he will soon die.

He tries to prepare his friends for this event.

He does die and they are grief stricken.

Gradually they come to terms with the grief as

they remember Badger and all he has taught them.

Badger lives on in his friends' memories of him.

Author: Susan Varley

This book explores themes of love and loss in a life-affirming and up lifting tale.

Once there was a girl whose life was filled with

wonder at the world around her. Then one day

something happened that made the girl take her

heart and put it in a safe place. However, the world seemed emptier that before. But would she know how to get her heart back?

 Author: Oliver Jeffers.

This book offers structure and an outlet for the many

difficult feelings that are associated with grief. It aims to help children make sense of their experience

whist finding a balance between remembering and having fun.

I love this book as it is an activity book that, when completed, can be kept as a treasured memory book.
