How does ELSA work?
How Does ELSA work?
ELSA sessions are delivered on an individual basis, or small group work if it is appropriate, such as when exploring development of Social and Friendship skills.
Sessions take place in our ELSA room, affectionately known as 'The Nest.' The room provides a calm, safe place for children to feel supported and nurtured.
In ELSA we aim to provide support for a wide range of emotional needs:

ELSA sessions are fun and use a range of activities to develop skills, including games, role play, puppets, as well as therapeutic activities, such as arts and crafts, mindfulness and sensory time.
Children are usually referred for ELSA sessions by their class teacher, our SENco (Samantha Lindsay) or the Head Teacher (Amy King.) Meetings are held, on a regular basis to discuss referral forms and to identify and prioritise need.
We then plan support sessions to facilitate the pupil in developing new skills and coping strategies that allow them to manage emotional and social demands more effectively.
