Becoming The Best We Can Be

Anger

Anger is one of our emotions and it is normal and healthy to have some angry feelings.

Some children struggle more than others to identify and control these feelings and need support with emotional awareness, identification of triggers and coping strategies.

Anger often demonstrates a child's feeling of being misunderstood, unfairly treated, falsely accused or feelings of insecurity.

It is common for anger to conceal other more vulnerable feelings, and angry outbursts can sometimes reflect more than what occurred in the immediate situation.

The image of a volcano captures the way in which difficult feelings can build over time, with pressure accumulating to the point that a minor annoyance can easily trigger your child to

'erupt' and 'blow their top.'
