Handwriting
To develop children's handwriting we use the Penpals handwriting scheme. We have high expectations for presentation and handwriting and believe that these need to be explicitly taught, modelled and reviewed with each child.
Prior to learning to form letters we work on fine motor skills to ensure that children are ready to hold mark making tools such as pencils, whiteboard pens and crayons. This involves using different tools to strengthen their hands such as picking up small items, using knives and forks with playdough and painting using paint brushes.
